Delhi High Court Orders Raid on Lenscut Stores for Trademark Infringement Against Lenskart
Raids seized counterfeit eyewear, safeguarding brand rights and consumer safety.

Pune / New Delhi: In a major intellectual property case, the Delhi High Court has ordered raids on “Lenscut” stores in Pune, following clear evidence of trademark and copyright violations against Lenskart Solutions Limited, India’s leading eyewear brand.
Investigations showed that the Pune-based Lenscut store had deliberately mimicked Lenskart’s trademark, logo, store design, and even its promotional messaging. The outlet, located next to an official Lenskart showroom, was using look-alike signage, lighting, décor, and marketing offers such as “Next Day Delivery” and “Free Lens Replacement”.
Posts on social media revealed that customers were being misled into entering the Lenscut outlet, mistaking it for an official Lenskart store. Evidence suggested a deliberate attempt to divert consumer traffic and exploit Lenskart’s goodwill.
Acknowledging the seriousness of the infringement, the Delhi High Court issued an ex-parte, ad-interim injunction. A local commissioner, assisted by police, was authorized to raid the premises, seize counterfeit eyewear and branding material, and document the violation.
The raid was carried out on 14 August 2025, ensuring all infringing goods, marketing collateral, and digital assets linked to Lenscut’s operations were seized.
Legal experts emphasize that counterfeit optical products are not just a trademark issue but also a consumer safety risk. Poor-quality lenses can harm eyesight, damage trust in authentic brands, and compromise public health.
The Court’s intervention thus protected not only Lenskart’s intellectual property rights but also the health and safety of consumers.
This ruling sends a strong signal to the eyewear and retail industry: Indian courts are prepared to take swift and decisive action against brand piracy and counterfeit trade.
The matter will return to court in November 2025, with the entire industry watching closely for further developments.
The Lenscut vs Lenskart trademark case highlights the urgent need to protect intellectual property and consumer safety in India’s rapidly growing eyewear market. The Delhi High Court’s raid order has set a precedent, reminding businesses and consumers alike that in a world full of imitation, the law continues to safeguard originality and public trust.
