Jharkhand government has moved into a heightened state of alert after a deadly fire at a nightclub in Goa. The state government has directed officials across all districts to carry out immediate checks on rooftops, bars, restaurants and hotels that operate on elevated structures. The order aims to ensure that fire safety measures and structural stability are fully in place.

Food and Supplies Minister Dr Irfan Ansari said the instructions are strict and leave no room for negligence. District authorities have been told to submit detailed inspection reports within a week. He said the administration, under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will not tolerate any lapse that puts lives at risk.

Officials have been asked to inspect every hotel and restaurant, paying close attention to kitchen hygiene, gas pipeline systems and ventilation units. They must also check whether fire extinguishers, alarms and emergency exits are functioning as required. The minister added that protecting the lives and health of the public is the government’s responsibility and the state intends to uphold it.

There is particular concern that a tragedy similar to Goa could occur if safety rules are ignored. Dr Ansari warned that any future incident in Jharkhand would lead to direct action against responsible officers. He expressed deep concern over the deaths in Goa and said the state government is on full alert mode.

A mandatory inspection has now been ordered for hotels, restaurants, bars and hospitals across Jharkhand. Every district must send its report within seven days. If any violation is found, strict action will follow without delay.

The minister offered condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the Goa fire and urged the Prime Minister to provide financial assistance of one crore rupees to each family. He added that he will meet the Chief Minister to ensure state-level support for the families from Jharkhand and Ranchi who were affected.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren also shared his reaction online. In a post on X, he called the news of the deaths extremely painful and prayed for peace for the victims. He wished strength for the grieving families and a quick recovery for those injured in the blaze.
